Day 8, Morning

Mama slept well throughout the night, and this morning the doctors decided to remove her ventilator! She was awake and answering some questions this morning by squeezing our fingers and nodding her head, and ever since they removed the tube she’s been sleeping. She still has not spoken. The occupational therapist said that her muscles are starting to get a little stiff, so we’ll be doing some new exercises with her this afternoon.

  1. Woo hooo! Hooray for getting to come off the vent. I’m so glad she’s making such great progress. You’ve still got my prayers that things keep going so well.

Hopefully we will be able to see you soon. Get lots of rest and I am so happy that you are awake now. I guess you were tired. ❤ Melissa Moberg

  4. We have you on our prayer chain at Nashville UMC. We continue to monitor your progress and pray things continue to improve. I remember you and your family. I think my children are a little older. Cindy Shepard (now Perryman) and David Shepard (married to Shae Hendley). We update our prayer chain as we get news from you. Just keep on with those improvements!!!! God is Good and He is faithful. Iris

  5. Hello, Lindsey,
Your precious Mama and I were college roommates, sorority sisters and bridesmaids in each other’s weddings. Our husbands were frat brothers. We haven’t seen each other much over the years but we have stayed in touch. I seem to have gotten in on the end of her current health issues. What was the orignal problem? I will help in any way that I can. She is most certainly in my prayers. How blessed she is to have such a loving family!

  6. Debbie:
You are an incredible woman. Not only are you brilliant ( I really miss reading your Discussion Boards) but you are an inspiration to me and all our cohort. Stay focused on your recovery and soon you will be back with all those students that need you so badly. My prayers are with you and your family.

  7. Lindsey,

We have been praying for your family, daily, and have been checking in, with Charlotte, to get updates. It is wonderful that Debbie is alert, even though she has not been able to talk, yet. We will continue to pray and watch for updates on this website. Please know that if there is anything we can do, let us know and we will help.

  8. Thanks so much for keeping us updated! The Hardegree family is so loving and strong. So happy to hear such great progress!
